Canada trip - Day five

Today was a busy day. Arwen got up and helped Mr. Rinker make breakfast, and Lorien woke up with a sore throat. Then, since it was Sunday, a group of students from the Prairie Bible Institute (http://prairie.edu/) drove over from Three Hills to help with Sunday worship service and Sunday school with the children. Daddy spoke about love and giving ourselves for one another during church service, and then we started fiddle camp for the day, while the younger children sang songs and made crafts with the college students. Arwen ended up with a small fan club of girls, because they discovered her ability to push them on the swing (and catch them before they hit the tree).

Since Lorien was sick in bed, Mama and Arwen had to teach piano in her place. They learned that young children have extremely short attention spans, and Arwen could only get her students to focus by promising to swing them extra high on the swing ("Yes, Natalie, I'll swing you high enough to make you scream, as long as you learn God is so Good").  Arwen had many opportunities to talk to the children about the Lord.  They are more comfortable with us now and they have been asking questions about our faith.  Pray, pray, pray for these young folks - they have so much against them but Jesus Christ is so much bigger and is ultimately the overcomer!

Fiddle camp ended around 5:00 pm, and Mr. Rinker handed out ice cream cones to finish off the day. All the children went home, and we packed up our bags and tents, all set to go camping and take a few days off. Mr. Rinker gave us sandwiches and sent us on our way. We drove to Lake Louise (a beautiful place) and got a hotel room for the night because it was too dark to pitch a tent.  It was so thrilling to see finally see the Rocky Mountains!

It sounds like y'all are meeting a very special need--a need that not just anyone could meet. The LORD works in awesome ways! It is so wonderful to hear how y'all are able to build relationships with the children through music (and swings :) ), and then share the gospel with them! Thank you for giving your time, energy, talents and love to these children. You are serving the LORD Christ, and it is beautiful. Just this morning I read in Matthew Jesus' words: "Whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means loose his reward."

Last night I asked the LORD for some encouraging stories of how he is working, and this morning, when I wasn't planning on it, I read your blog. It was just the sort of thing I was asking for! Thank you Jesus!

God bless you and keep you, and bring you home safely to us!

Love,
Grace

P.S. Thank you for the pictures!

Oh wow! This sounds exhausting, but it's amazing how much good work you are doing for the Lord! Like Grace said, it's encouraging to read about it! Sounds like Arwen has found a good career. :) Get well soon, Lorien!

Have fun!
