Switzerland trip - Day 7

We left Zermatt and the Matterhorn this morning and slowly made our way toward Geneva to the small village of Gyron. Here is our driving experience thus far: John driving a stick shift really fast because everyone drives fast but the road signs are either indecipherable or they are not helpful, so we make our way slowly. :)  I hope to get pictures of Gyron tomorrow. It looks like a picture postcard.
We were graciously offered a chalet here by friends from Geneva. They fixed a wonderful lunch of raclette, which is cheese melted on a special machine and then scraped onto plates.  We ate the raclette with pickles, dried meats, bread sticks and small boiled potatoes.  It was really good! The Ledermans are so welcoming and full of hospitality. They took us to the local bakery and then on a hike to the river. Now we are settled in for the night and all is peaceful and still. Tomorrow we see a bit of France before heading back toward Milan.

Switzerland trip - Day 6

Today we said goodbye to Murren for the last time. We hiked a tough round trip to the top of a peak where Jennifer filmed me playing some fiddle tunes. We then drove to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn. Well, actually we drove halfway, then put our car on a train for a ten mile tunnel through the mountains, then drove to the town of Tasch, parked the car, and took another train to Zermatt. We checked into the Hotel Sonnematten then walked around the town for a while.
