Switzerland trip - Day 5

We decided, due to the rain and cold, we would stay the night at Hotel Steingletscher at Sustenpassat. This is our favorite place of all we have seen so far. We tried their hot cocoa and apple strudel. Delicious! But it's the splendor of this valley that has really captivated us. Waterfalls and glaciers and a little store that sells fresh alpine milk and cheese from the cows up on the hill.

The next morning we took the trail above the hotel and hiked about 2 1/2 miles straight up (elevation gain of 3000 ft) to Tierberglihutte, a little restaurant and hostel at the edge of a huge glacier.  This was so beautiful. What a special day, especially for John, to be able to hike out onto a glacier. We then went to Aare Gorge. This gorge is a mile long and the walkway is bolted into the side the rock, over a pretty fast flowing river. It gave me a funny feeling in my stomach to look down but it was really beautiful. What a breath-taking world our Lord has made.
