Day Two: Lebanon, TN, to Memphis, TN: 250 miles

Thank you for your comments! They are moderated, so they won't go on immediately, but check back later to see them!

Today we left Lebanon early and went through Nashville on our way to Memphis. In Nashville, we made a stop at Fort Nashborough. "On January 1, 1780, Nashville was founded when James Robertson led his group of pioneers across the frozen Cumberland river to a place called The Cedar Bluffs. It was here that these men built a fort called Nashborough which would be shelter for the first families until Indian attacks ended in 1792." (Nashville.gov).

We study some Tennessee history at Fort Nashborough

Chippy gets warlike when visiting forts, so Mama Jane had to take a hand.

After Fort Nashborough, we made a short trip to Belmont Mansion. We were given a wonderful tour! There was an admission price, and it took some effort to convince the ticket box that we were under 12. The animals didn't even try -- they simply stowed way.

After Belmont Mansion we headed to Memphis. On the way we stopped at Parker's Crossroads, the site of a Civil War battle. Flitchen (Chippy's father from Canada) bought a very dangerous gift for himself.

Then we continued to Memphis, where Mama Jane took us to Central BBQ, the best BBQ we have eaten! We couldn't have found it without our GPS, which was a gift from Aunt Margaret and Uncle Dwain. Thank you both!

And yes, she ate it all!!!
Thanks for reading our blog! Tomorrow we cross the Mississippi and head through Arkansas to the Petit Jean State Park in the Ozark Mountains!

I'm so glad you all are doing this! (Now we can keep up with your doings all along the way). I hope you all have a wonderful "westward ho!" experience... Don't let Chippy and the others get too carsick. :) I love you all!

Hi Guys I have been watching you all the way across the country. Hope you had lots of fun. The Mts and canyons are beautiful, simular to the ones in Arizona and Utah.
So happen for you and your performance at the WMA. Take care and see you soon. Aunt Sarah
