Day Four: Petit Jean State Park, AR, to Elk City, OK: 430 miles

We woke up early on day four and left our little cabin in Petit Jean State Park. This was the longest driving day so far! Today we saw O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A! We spent about four hours at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

At the museum entrance. This was a HUGE marble statue!
Mama Jane finally meets Ronald Reagan!
In front of a very large "Coming Through the Rye" statue

Arwen with "The Bronco Buster"
Lorien with "Ponies Pawing in the Snow"
Just us cowgirls

Arwen was excited to see their Frederick Remington collection, and we really enjoyed the Little Prairie Town! It was a lifelike re-creation of an old turn of the century prairie town, complete with dry goods store, bank, church, saloon and train station. The pictures look dark because it was night time inside.

Howdy stranger!

Mama Jane shows the girls how to belly up to the bar. Chippy says, "Give me a milk, and make it rumble."

To
Today's sermon was delivered by the Right Reverend Chippy Chugger Chipmunk, Esquire

When Chippy preaches, Mama Jane always gives an "amen"
Lorien yodeled all through the museum and for the ladies in the gift shop, much to Arwen's embarrassment!

"We don't take kindly to non-stop yodelers round these parts"
After the museum closed, we left Oklahoma City and drove to Elk City, about halfway to Amarillo, TX. Tomorrow we drift into Texas for a night in Palo Duro Canyon State Park!
